Democratic Republic of the Congo: WHO Health Emergency Appeal 2026

Overview

Protracted conflict, repeated disease outbreaks and chronic underinvestment continue to drive one of the world’s most complex health emergencies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2026, 7.5 million people are expected to need urgent health assistance, particularly in conflict-affected eastern provinces. Recurrent outbreaks of cholera, measles, mpox and Ebola are further straining the health system. WHO is supporting essential health services, strengthening epidemic preparedness and coordinating emergency health responses in the hardest-hit areas.
